Report: Governor Whitmer’s Health Director Urged Police to Threaten COVID Rules Violators
The Detroit News Reveals Ex-Director Robert Gordon Asked Local Police Organizations To Have Residents Call Police For Mask And Social Distancing Violations
LANSING, Mich. – Michigan Freedom Fund Executive Director Tori Sachs reacted to breaking news that Robert Gordon, the former director of Governor Whitmer’s Department of Health and Human Services who received a $155,000 hush money payment to leave his position, sought to use Sheriffs and local police to enforce mask and social distancing rules:
“It is both shocking and shameful that Governor Whitmer and her health director wanted to use our local police as enforcers for Whitmer’s authoritarian rules that she herself doesn’t follow. This is the kind of abuse of power you would expect from a Communist regime, not an elected Governor and her appointees.
“We are proud of the law enforcement officials who stood up to Whitmer and Gordon’s overreach, but now Whitmer’s administration should publicly acknowledge whether Gordon’s failure to recruit police to enforce social distancing rules was the reason he received a $155,000 hush money payment to leave his job earlier this year.”
