Freedom Fund Commends Michigan Republicans for Joining Fight to Defend Constitutional Rights
LANSING, MI, August 22, 2019 – Michigan Freedom Fund Executive Director Tony Daunt today commended the Michigan Republican Party for joining the fight against the numerous unconstitutional provisions contained in the Michigan Citizens Redistricting Commission.
“As this lawsuit demonstrates, this commission is fatally flawed. The Constitution protects political parties’ ability to pick their own representatives, but this majority partisan commission denies that right. Between the violations laid out in this case and the blatant discrimination against Michiganians based on their job, their civic engagement, and most shamefully, who they are related to, it is clear that this entire amendment must be tossed.”
Executive Director Tony Daunt, in his role as a private citizen impacted by these violations, is the lead plaintiff in the Daunt v. Benson lawsuit.
