Michigan Freedom Fund Identifies $500 Million in New Revenue to Fix the Damn Roads

LANSING MI, August 16, 2019 – Michigan Freedom Fund Executive Director Tony Daunt today unveiled a plan for new revenue to help fix the damn roads.

“Abandon the ridiculous plan to avoid collection of $500 million in tax money through the failed “Good Jobs for Michigan” program and abandon it today,” said Daunt. “Corporate welfare doesn’t create jobs.  Instead of bypassing a half-billion dollars with a pork project that benefits politicians’ favorite businesses at the expense of everyone else in the state, use that half-billion in new revenue to fix the damn roads.”

At least one lawmaker this month proposed expanding the failed Good Jobs for Michigan corporate welfare scheme by $500 million, forcing the state to avoid capturing a half-billion in income tax revenue from some of the state’s biggest companies.
