$130 MILLION CUT FROM MICHIGAN PUBLIC SCHOOLS
—On December 18, 2003, Schauer voted to cut nearly $100 per student from the school aid fund, cut $22 million in state funding for school technology and cut $1 million from adult learning. —On December 10, 2003, Schauer publicly backed Jennifer Granholm’s executive order to cut $330,000 in K12 education spending, cut $12.43 million from Community Colleges and cut $73.17 million from the state’s higher education budget. —On September 8, 2004, Schauer voted to cut $14 million from Intermediate school districts, forcing them to cut cost-saving and resource-sharing education programs.
