Whitmer Heading To Colorado For Fundraising Party While Bashing Out-of-State Donations
Whitmer’s ‘rules for thee, but not for me’ playbook is so well known that Michiganders won’t be surprised by another episode exposing the governor’s dishonesty and hypocrisy
LANSING, Mich. – MIRS News reported on Friday that Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s campaign is planning an out-of-state fundraiser in Aspen, Colorado after condemning “out-of-state interests” in a recent fundraising appeal for “pouring millions of dollars” into her state. Whitmer has already raked in millions over the legal donation limits from out-of-state liberals like Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker which generated a campaign finance complaint from the Michigan Freedom Fund.
“Gretchen Whitmer has an integrity problem, and she makes it worse every time she tells people one thing then turns around and gets caught doing exactly the opposite,”said Tori Sachs, executive director of the Michigan Freedom Fund. “Whitmer told Michiganders not to travel out of state, then she took a secret flight to Florida. She made it illegal to use a fishing boat, then her husband tried strong-arming a marina to get her motorboat in the water. She made it illegal to dine out in large groups, then went out partying at a dive bar with a big group of friends. Now Whitmer’s blasting out-of-state money while simultaneously planning a secret trip to a Colorado resort town and orchestrating an illegal fundraising scheme taking millions over the limit from national liberal elites.”
Despite condemning out-of-state interests in campaign emails for months, more than a third of Gov. Whitmer’s donations this year came from outside of Michigan.
This week Whitmer is heading to Aspen, Colorado, for a fundraising party where contribution levels range from $250 to $5,800 per person.
